Tim Wells is a Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) Certified Trainer and was the lead trainer for the Intake Facility and Medium Security Adult Prison in Wyoming for over 11 years. He has trained hundreds of correctional staff in tactical communications. He has over a decade of experience utilizing Verbal Judo’s de-escalation techniques working directly with inmates giving first-hand demonstrations to staff on how to deescalate offenders in crisis. He has worked in the fields of Corrections and Education for over 18 years and has received numerous awards for creating innovative training programs including the International Association of Corrections Training Personnel’s Training Systems Award of Excellence
His teaching style is best described as a light-hearted mixture of relational instruction and creative hands-on exercises. He has a gift of connecting with his students and making the content applicable to not only their careers, but also to their personal lives as well. He is a Member of American Correctional Association, Board Member of the Wyoming Criminal Justice Association, Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Member of the National Honor Society, and in his free time he volunteers as the Youth Area Representative for CMA Wyoming overseeing the Youth chapters across the state.
